Rick Steves' My Way Tour: Europe in 14 Days

As a young, and may I add introverted, woman traveling with her younger brother and parents, I was skeptical about taking a tour.  I have always loved planning and doing my own thing and the thought of being dragged around beautiful cities with a large group of enthusiastically friendly strangers while being talked at was not something I was too keen on.  (My opinion on tours may be a little harsh and unfair, but hey, I’ve heard a lot of bad stories about name games and mass amounts of smiley group pictures).  Then my mom sent me the information on the My Way Tours, and I started to become less skeptical, and here’s why:

1. You plan everything! You pick wherever you want to go and you do everything at your own pace!

2. Rick Steves takes all the hotel and transportation stress out of the way and provides a tour "guide" that travels with you to answer questions and give short orientation walks to welcome you to the city. All this lets you spend all your energy on planning your days, which the whole family gets to be involved in.

3. My brother (19) and I are at the age where we are ready to start traveling on our own and the idea of going to Europe, while exciting, is also… well, terrifying.  As much as I hated to admit it, going on a tour that took us all over Europe seemed like the perfect maiden voyage.  It would help us become more comfortable in a foreign place.

4. Not sure what exactly it is about him, but Rick Steves is awesome.  I immediately started watching his YouTube videos and… you just love the guy. How could I not want to go on his tour?!
