Switzerland Day 6

Switzerland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were all pretty stoked. We found out that we would be making a short stop in Bern which is a larger Swiss city than Lauterbrunnen. It was a cute city along a picturesque river, fun to walk through and they have actual bears (bern=bear). We walked up to this amazing rose garden which had the best views of the city! Then met back to the bus and on to… The Alps!

Bern

Lauterbrunnen was aaaaaadorable! Our hotel room in the Staubbach Hotel had a view of a waterfall and the snowy Alps!!!  We headed out for a walk with a few other tour friends and walked passed the falls and into the farmland in the valley. The valley is home to dozens of cows with huge bells around their necks. Not too much later we befriended one of these lovely cows. The river running through the town is impressive and fun to walk along, you pass a festive and busy campground, and the path brings you back into the town past a small, quaint church.

Very retro hotel with amazing views.

Switzerland Day 7

Up and out early. This was our day in the alps and we were gonna enjoy it. We got right on the cable car up to Grütschalp and then started up the Mountain-View Trail headed to Allmendhubel.  What’s in Allmendhubel? The coolest playground in the entire universe. I don’t care that I’m a woman in my twenties, I climbed in the gopher holes, I went down that slide, and I swung on the swings with the most amazing view ever!

On the Trail

We finally made it to Mürren and had an expensive lunch as a helicopter transported building materials to and from a construction sight directly next to us… Cool at first, annoyingly loud the next ten minutes. Then we took the train back to Grütschalp and the cable car back down to Lauterbrunnen. After we got back we were pretty drained so we napped for awhile and then headed to dinner. I got raclette, which may be seasonal and not something you’re supposed to order in the summer, I did anyway and it was delicious, I would highly recommend it. Then sleep.

Mürren

We were gonna go down the Allmendhubel funicular, but it was closed for winter for four more days… so we had to hike straight down to Mürren. It was so steep and the gravel that was used was very slippery, our knees were dying we were all sunburned, and we were getting low on water, but we were loving it.
